Friday Night at Brooklyn Bowl with Animal Years // PigPen Theatre Co.

It was one hell of a final summer Friday night at Brooklyn Bowl this past weekend. We arrived as Animal Years were setting up on stage. We took an open spot front and center while enjoying some cold Brooklyn brews. By the time the band was done setting up, the floor behind was packed. Having seen Animal Years a few times before and building a relationship with the guys, it was awesome to see the crowd they had just drawn...and well deserved by far. I knew the crowd was in for an awesome show. And that's exactly what they got. Animal Years absolutely killed it, playing an awesome combination of both old and new tracks. The crowd never stopped moving and singing along. Animal Years' energy on stage has always been super contagious. It is clearly obvious the bond the band shares with the smiles they share on stage throughout their shows. If you haven't checked out their music or one of their shows yet, I strongly suggest doing so. As the band closed their set, the crowd was beyond warmed up for headliner, PigPen Theatre Co. If you ever wanted to see a unique and awesome sounding folk band, PigPen Theatre Co. is your key. With amazing melodies and harmonies, instruments like the accordion and the banjo to accompany the guitars, bass, drums, and the voice lead singer, Ryan Melia, your ears can't help but be stimulated. The energy and bond these guys had were just as equal as that of Animal Years...and the crowd clearly saw and felt that. PigPen Theatre Co. was simply awesome. I couldn't have picked a better way to close out the final Friday of the summer. Big thanks to the guys of Animal Years for having me out. You guys rock!
